Club's mix of troubles carries on

THE 1 in 12 Club have hit problems in their much awaited move to their own, permanent base.

Work has been going on for the past year in renovating a building in Albion Street, Bradford. Over 100 volunteers have been giving up their time to give their nomadic club a home.

In the past they have been at the Queens Hall, Royal Standard and are now living at The Metropole.

But structural problems have set the project back financially. Consequently the opening of the 1 in 12 Club’s new home on £96,000 budget, given by the Department of Environment, seems doubtful.

The 1 in 12 Club, which caters mainly for the young unemployed and puts on about 300 gigs a year, needs just another £6,000 for the final work.

Help could be on the way from the Prince’s Jubilee Trust and there is the possibility of a council grant.

Despite the setbacks, The 1 in 12 Club are looking forward with confidence to the coming year and new membership for 1987/88 starts this ‘week.
